I liked Anthem better. I enjoyed Anthem more because I kept up with it easier and even though it was confusing at the beginning, I liked the actual story better. If I would have read it by myself, I wouldn't have understood the story but since we read it in class, I was able to understand the book and enjoy it.
In Anthem, I learned from Equality to never be afraid to stand out from others, to do your own thing and not have to do something just because everyone else is. In the Odyssey, I learned from Odysseus to be brave and to have courage.
I liked both stories, don't get me wrong, but because Anthem is a bit more modern it held my attention more. It reminded me a lot of the Giver so I was very interested to see how the story ended. Plus, Equality was such an easy character to relate to because he felt different from everybody and I'm sure a lot of teenagers, including me, feel that way.
What I learned from Equality is that it's okay to be different. Having your own mind and speaking up for what you believe in can make a bigger difference than what you will originally think. I learned from Odysseus that in order to save the people that you love and give them the life they deserve it takes sacrifice.
I personally enjoyed Anthem better. for the most part I likes it because it was something that could first of all keep up with and second of all I'd be excited to read the next class. I felt that The Odyssey, although a classic, was long and a bit confusing at first.
Through Odysseus I learned that you can't be afraid of what's out there and to always have faith in yourself. but in a way I liked Equality cause at first was like how we started off this year a tad scared to stand out but as we read more he sort of grew as a person and wasn't afraid to be different.
My favorite story we have read so far is the anthem .i liked anthem because it was a different type of book and it explained to you a different type of pklace as well it was a normal lifestyle. It was something difference and it showed someone breaking through the normal.
I learned that you always have to have ur own type of self in mind. i think that no matter what everyones doing you must be yourself. I learned from oddyseus that you have to be brave and fight for what you believe in.
I enjoyed The Odyssey better than Anthem. I like the idea of a having a hero and him going on a quest. I also enjoy Greek mythology and stories.
I learned that you should never give up what you are fighting for through Odysseus. You should never let anyone get the best of you. Through Equality, I learned to not be afraid to speak your mind, in the end you will be rewarded.
I enjoyed reading Anthem better. The simplest reason is because I was able to understand what the author was trying to say better than in the Odyssey.I enjoyed how Equality wasn't afraid to admit he was different and how people in his society judged for being so different. Also, in Anthem I was able to relate some things that Equality felt to things that actually happen in today's society. That is my reason as to why I enjoyed anthem more.
I enjoyed reading The Odyssey more than Anthem. I liked The Odyssey more because I have always been very interested in Greek mythology. I personally would much rather read about something that could never happen in real life, such as the gods using their powers to delay Odysseus's journey home one day after another. I liked both stories, but The Odyssey kept my attention better than Anthem.
Through Equality, I learned that we shouldn't be afraid to be ourselves. We must stand up for what we believe in no matter what the costs. Through Odysseus, I learned that perseverence is very important. He could've easily given up at any time, but instead he chose to continue his journey home to Penelope and Telemachus.
I agree with Elizabeth when she says that it's okay to be different. In fact, it's perfectly normal.
Again, I agree with Elizabeth in the sense that in order to save the people that you love and give them the life they deserve it takes sacrafice.
I agree with Amanda when she says that Equality is like all of us in a way. We were all a bit scared at the beginning of the year, but we sort of grew out of it.
Personally, I disliked Odyssey. I'm not one to like such fantasy with six headed monsters and women that also half birds. Anthem was much more interesting. I loved how it was similar or at least reminded me of Hitler's way to unify people and take away rights. I obviously disagree with what he did but I find it a good story. Anthem was also just easier to read. Odyssey was written in a way that i would not understand anything until we discussed it together as a class. Also, I found Equality's way to find individuality much more inspiring than Odysseus just overcoming physical obstacles. However, Odysseus also taught me never to give up..after 10 years you'd think someone would just give up. Alexis- I totally agree with Equality teaching us not to be afraid of being different. Elizabeth- Anthem held my attention much more than Odyssey too. Also, I want to read the Giver, it sounds interestng if it is close to Anthem. Amanda- Now that I think of it, Anthem was like the beginning of the year.
I agree with Alexis when she says that she learned to never be afraid to stand out from others. It's completely true because we really can't be afraid of what others think or we won't live our life right.
I agree with Alyse when she says that it was easier to understand Anthem. Unless your really good at understanding old literature, the Odyssey was really hard to get.
I like how Adrian likes Greek mythology better. I also love Greek mythology and that's probably the only thing that kept up my attention throughout the Odyssey.
I personally didn't like either of the stories. They didn't catch much of my attention. I liked and disliked both equally. In both, they showed flaws that every person has. They both also had senses of reality in them.
In Anthem, Equality showed me to follow my heart and do what I believe in even if society doesn't. The Golden one taught me that love conquers all. She was shunned by society for following her love into the Uncharted Forest. In the Odyssey, I was taught that if you let your ego get the better of you, you will suffer. I also learned that God will always protect you in spite of what you have done.

1) I agree with Alexis when she said that you shouldn't be afraid to stand out from others.
2) I agree with Elizabeth when she said that you should have your "own" mind and not be copying others.
3) I agree with Amanda when she said that you can't be afraid of whats out there.
I personally liked Anthem better. I not only enjoyed Anthem better because it was easier understood to me but just because it was creative. I liked that it showed how our individuality and uniqueness is important. I always wanted to know what would happen next in Anthem. It was a story that was nice to read. Also, it had a world of its own. The writer was very creative in writing this story.
1. I agree with Alexis when she states that she liked Anthem because she learned from Equality to never be afraid to stand out for others. I think this is true, we should speak our minds and be ourselves.
2. I agree with Elizabeth. I also did like both stories. Anthem did grasp my attention more because it was more modern. I agree with her opinion.
3.I agree with Alyse when she says that she felt that she could relate to Equality in some things we feel in society today. It's still hard for some of us to be able to speak our minds and stand for what we believe because we are afraid of what others might say. Yet, we should be more like Equality and stand out and speak our minds.
I think i liked the Odyssey better. I liked it better because i felt it was more original than anthem. It kept me on my toes more. I found Anthem to be the typical "rebel" story with the good ending. The Odyssey also had a good ending but i felt it had more of a plot to it. It wasn't predictable. It is also a timeless piece of literature, so it enhances our knowledge to the world of classic literature.
In Anthem, I learned that I should always stand up for what i believe in and to never give up. I learned that with effort and dedication comes a reward, so to speak. In the Odyssey I also saw that determination leads to success. I also learned from Odysseus that pride is good to a certain extent. I learned that its not good to boast and make fun of people that could hurt you in the end.
The story I like best was the Odyssey because of all the action that can appear in everyday life. Even though the story is far from what we are experiencing, it still hold the themes in life. I was not able to understand it in the beginning because of their language, but after reading it more, I understand it. I learn from the main character Odysseus that you should never give up to go to the place you want to make it to. Even though the consequences are hard to come by, just to it. Also, to never try to procrastinate because through the story, all Odysseus wants is to just go home in the story no matter what.
I agree with GabrielD becuase in life you should never give up for what you are fighting for, and to never let anyone to get the best of you.
I also agree with Adrian. The Odyssey helped kept my atention in reading it because of all the nonexistant adventures in what Odysseus goes through.
I also agree with Tiffany. But of the stories were not the best because of the character's flaws. However, the flaws is what makes the stories great.
I really agree with alexis when she said that she learned to never be afraid to stand out from others. I think that's so true, because in life you can't be afraid or self conscience.
I agree with Elizabeth when she says Anthem is more modern and also that it reminded her of the giver, which I really enjoyed reading in eighth grade.
and lastly I like how Marrisa says that no matter what you need you be yourself which is something that everyone seems to forget now a days.
I liked Anthem the best out of the two. Even though The Odyssey was a great inspiring epic story, it was difficult to understand. I think that it was too complex. I believe that sometimes it is better to have things simple then to make them confusing. I truly enjoyed Anthem. I think that it was a very inspiring story. That story taught me that even if you live in a world where everyone lives the same, that you can be the difference. You can be the person who shines passion and ego brightly, and who can pass it on to the rest of our brothers.
1: I agree with Gabrield in the ways that Odysseus showed much valor in the story and inspired me to be more assertive in life. It showed me to be a stronger person, to persevere, and to take on any challenge that is in the way of my life's goals.
2. I agree with Elizabeth. I agree that it is okay to be different. I think people should live their life the way they want to. People are individuals, and should be given freedom to express their uniqueness.
3: I also agree with Alyse. I find that Anthem was easier to understand then Odyssey. I believe that sometimes simplicity is always the best.
They both where epict in there own ways, but I'd prefer to read the Anthem. I like it more because it was more relatible. Even though it was about a Utopian Society, it was relatible because the characters were confused.
In these stories, the characters show you very valuable lessons. In Anthem, I learned the value of being indiferent. In The Odyssey, we learn that we shouldn't show our pride because it will get back to us in the future.
i liked Anthem better, hands down. I guess the reason why is that it is more intriguing and calls my attention more. I think it's because Anthem is such an odd story. It's different and everyone page keeps you wondering. The Odyssey is too historical. Reading a long story like that isn't really my forte. It kind of bores me and puts me to sleep.
In Anthem, I learned that individuality is a precious gift. You shouldn't want to be like someone else because living in a world with no uniquness is horrible. In the Odyssey, I learned that life isn't about giving up, but more about perservering and self-sacrificing. I learned that there are a lot of obstacles in life and sometimes, you have to do the inevitable to keep living.
I love both, but if i had to choose, i would have to say Anthem. I say this for a couple different reasons. First of all, the story was, to me at least, most interesting to read. it was written in a form of english closer to what is used now, while the Odyssey has more of an old english sound. On the other hand, I loved reading the Odyssey because it was different from what i was used to reading and the way it was written gave it an interesting and new feeling.
I learned from Odyssey to be brave, cool in the face of danger, and smart at all times. He also teaches readers not to be caught up in a moment of pride, ever, because it might end up to be your downfall. From Equality I learned how important it is to be an individual and have your own thoughts and your own life. He helped me realize how much i take for granted, especially living in the land of the free, that i could have been born without.
RESPONSES: I agree with Elizabeth that Anthem had the same feel as The Giver and that did make me more interesting in how it would end.
i agree with Marissa that. while it's great to think of others, you can't ever forget to take care of and help yourself.
I agree with Adrian that i have been interested in Greek Mythology for a time now and i loved having a glimpse of it. That's part of the reason that it is a little difficult for me to pick a favorite between Anthem and The Odyssey
I preferred Anthem over the Odyessy. I enjoyed Anthem more because it was easier to follow and understand. The story line i thought was better. The Odyssey for me had a lot of complicated language and sentencing so i had a hard time comprehending the story, while with anthem i had no problem.

Equality was different and he knew that he had discovered something great when he made electricity.
the stroy i liked the best was the odyssey. the reason it because the odyssesy is more adventurous and daring than anthem. the anthenm was more on the boring side.
what i learned fromthe characters is to never give up. odysseus never gave up in trying to get home. also equality never gave up in making discoverys.
I agree with stephany that individuality is important and that anthem is a very good book. Also equality struggled in his quest for knowledge like we sometimes do.
I liked the anthem more than the odyssey for a lot of reasons. One would be the story line. The story line wasva lot more interesting, it kept me reading. The mommemts of suspense were also great. That is why I liked it more.
i liked anthem alot better than i liked the odessy. the odessy was too fake and the movie was super confusing and it bare2ly had anything to do with the book. i didnt like the odessy at all. anthem was really good and inspiring and it also kept me guessing a little bit.
i learned from anthem that everyone always says its good to be yourself but then when you are like yourself everyone seems to have a problem with it. i think people should make up their minds to be yourself or not to. in the odessy i didnt really learn anything some people say they learned to be brave and have courage. reading about someone elses story is not gopnna make you couragous so i dont know why they would say that.
i disagree with alexis when she says she learned how to be couragous from reading oddysseus, ur not gonna be a hero all of a sudden because you read the oddessy if that was the case everyone would read it.
i agree with alexis when she says she learned to never be afraid to stand out from others
i agree with elizabeth anthem reminded me alot about the giver thats probably why i liked it alot too.

1)I agree with Elizabeth when she says Anthem is more modernized so it can hold out attention longer
2)I agree with Amanda when she says that Anthem was the type of story that you wanted to come into the next class and read it.
3)I agree with Marissa when she says Anthem is a book that shows you how someone is trying to break through what his society considers normal.

i liked anthem alot better than i liked the odessy. the odessy was too fake and the movie was super confusing and it bare2ly had anything to do with the book. i didnt like the odessy at all. anthem was really good and inspiring and it also kept me guessing a little bit.
i learned from anthem that everyone always says its good to be yourself but then when you are like yourself everyone seems to have a problem with it. i think people should make up their minds to be yourself or not to. in the odessy i didnt really learn anything some people say they learned to be brave and have courage. reading about someone elses story is not gopnna make you couragous so i dont know why they would say that.
i disagree with alexis when she says she learned how to be couragous from reading oddysseus, ur not gonna be a hero all of a sudden because you read the oddessy if that was the case everyone would read it.
i agree with alexis when she says she learned to never be afraid to stand out from others
i agree with elizabeth anthem reminded me alot about the giver thats probably why i liked it alot too.
