Shakespeare in Love is Hollywood's version of how William Shakespeare derived his inspiration to write Romeo and Juliet. However, we know that Shakespeare took a popular story and turned it into an amazing play.
If you had to make up your own movie about Shakespeare's inspiration to write this particular play, what story would you make up for the audience?

If I had to make a movie of Romeo and Juliet, I would say that he was writing it as sort of a biography of a friend who was in that situation. He was dedicating a story to his friend and his life. I would put a twist on it. I would make it that he and his friends were fighting over Shakespeare's wife.He would later realize that life was too important to waste it on someone who wasn't important.
I would make the actors become in tune to their own emotions. To make a story believable, a person has to become the person and realize themselves in that situation.
If I had to make a movie of how Shakespeare got inspired with Romeo and Juliet, I would write of how he would be the Nurse with her point of view. She has the insight to it, and its more realistic. Its more realistic because it would be seen in both views, like the story is written originally.
I would get actors who live through this. I would do this because it would make it believable. Also, it would make it a 100 times better and relatable.
Responses:
1. I disagree with Tiffany because if it was a biography about another couple it wouldn't feel realistic. It seem like fiction.
2. I like Tiffany idea on how she'd make it. I disagree however because her ending point is to blunt and doesn't really match the story well.
3. I agree with Tiffany about the emotions part. If a person is no in tune with there emotions it doesn't express the true meaning of the play. Also, it doesn't give the feeling the playwright meant it to be acted.
If I had to make a movie about how Shakespeare became inspried to write Romeo and Juliet, it would be about Shakespeare observing the lives of everyday people. He would see how families hated each other, especially the wealthy. Then, he would get the idea to make someone fall in love with someone in the other family.
He would write draft after draft about how he thought it would happen. He would even get two real people to see if they would really fall in love.
Responses:
1. I agree with Tiffany becuase the actors must be in tune with their emotions.
2. I disagree with Stacy becuase I don't think people who went through this would make good actors.
3. I agree with Stacy becuase the Nurse's point of view is good.
I see Shakespeare as a very complicated writer and I'm sure that it took an experience big enough to make him write such a beautiful story. My movie will be about Shakespeare and his wife. It is known that Shakespeare and his wife didn't have the best relationship even though it seemed that when he was younger they got along fine. The story would be about how Shakespeare fell in love with his wife and how something happen that "killed" their love for each other. The killing of their love was where Shakespeare interpreted it into the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet.
My actors would have to have a lot of emotion. Especially Shakespeare because the story needs a really good actor to play him. The movie will essentially be a tragedy just like Romeo and Juliet. The killing of love, whether it be physical or just emotional is always a tragedy.
i would probably make a story about two friends who's families all of a sudden start to hate each other but during the friendship, the two friends grow feelings for each other. the sneak out of the house every night to see them. everything goes weel for several weeks until the boy's brother sees him one day sneeking out.
the boy's family tells him to stay away or else they will disown him. hte boy revoltes against him parents and decide to sneek out but this time, the boy and girl would not come back home that night. the next morning, a police crusier would find then in a lkae face down and discover they both committed suicide for each other's love.
It is very obvious to see that Shakespeare needed some sort of inspiration. My movie about his inspiration would be about his parents. He may have learned what true love means from them and wanted to share with the world. Little did he know, with his beautiful words it would be world famous for all time.
The actors would need much skill to convey Shakespeare's message in the right way; with passion. Without passion, the play may not have don such a big impact.
Tiffany: I do agree with you, the actors need to make the story believable.
Stacey: the word relateable is very key in his plays. Also getting actors who live through it is very smart.
Gabriel: I think if Shakespeare did this play observing every day random people it wouldn't have as much feeling. Maybe if he had some relation to the people it would work better.
If i had to write a movie i would do one thatw as just like the play same names and all because you dont want to loose the essence of the play. I believe every part was great even the names .All i would do is make it super super modern.
I would make it with cell phones ,gadgets computers even myspace and make it ereally good and modern .So tennager can compare to it and really get into shakespear work and under stand it more.
Response :I like tiffanys because it gives the story a lesson you can learn and people can relate to it.
Response :I like gabriels on how it is put thats hes working on the actual work and get two people to try and all.
Response :I like the aspect of bronties because of making it friends instead of romance.
I would create a play that portrayed William Shakespeare in love with a woman. It would show true romance, and emotions. It would be a story of where both of the lovers care about eachother more then life itself, but their parents refuse for them to stay together. The movie would show love, pain, anguish, and fear. I would make it a very interesting motion picture.I would base the movie on the lives of teenagers today, and their relationships. It would be centered between William Shakespeare and his lover, and their parents, in an all out clash between keeping and breaking love. Even the sternnest of men would be swayed by this movie.
I agree with Tiffany. I feel that an actor should be in rythm with his own feelings and express them as such.
I agree with Stacey. I think that the Nurse, from the story, had a good point of view.
I agree with Gabrield. I too agree with William Shakespeare being an observer of every day life of town-folks. He could see the problems of people everyday and use them in his story. A person's daily life is drama in itself.
If I had to make a movie about Shakespeare's inspiration,it would be a bit different. I would write about how Shakespeare falls in love with a woman who is already married to one of his best friends. Therefore, they are forbidden to be together and this is how the idea came to him. This way he would write about his emotions in a true and real way.
1. I agree with tiffany when she says that to make a story believable a person has to become the person and realize temselves in that situation.
2. I agree with Stacey. Having actors who actually ahve lived through this would make it more real and believable.
3. I disagree with Gabriel. If Shakespeare did this based on his observations of other people, it would not be as realistic.
If i had to make a Shakespeare inspired movie based on Romeo and Juliet I'd make it in like present day, high school and I'd make the parents own companies that are against each other, the dads used to be partners but then they got into a HUGE fight and the company split so then they made companies and became competion. so the families basically hate each other. and when they get to school they basically have a huge crush on each.
If I had to make a movie about Romeo and Juliet, I would show the play from someone else's point of view so we can see from their side. Showing from others point of view can help us know more about the story in depth. Sometimes we assume that someone in the play is the bad guy without proving it from their own point of view. To help the actors prepare for this role, I would let them live through this experience.
I agree with GabrielD with what he said. Shakespeare wrote this to help others see the liuves of everyday people such are the rich and wealthy.
I also argree with Elizabeth because as we all know, Shakespeare is a very complicated guy, but he has the experience to make a story like this.
I like Brontie's story because these types of stories help make the fact that Shakespeare is a very creative man.
I like Tiffany's twist on the story when they are all fighting over Shakespeare's wife. That really would be an interesting story!
Gabriel's idea of how Shakespeare became inspired kind of confused me. I know Shakespeare is a really complicated and intimate playwright but I don't think he would go so far as to actually try to make two people fall in love.
I love how Stefanie's movie will be about how Shakespeare was inspired by his parent's love. It seems really sweet and actually might make a cute family film.
I agree with Stacey that the actors have to be relatable in their situations.
I agree with Gabriel that Shakespeare should observe the families at that time and their problems.
I agree with Elizabeth that it would be a good story if they were in love and it was suddenly killed by something.
It is obvious Shakespeare had to have gotten his inspiration from somewhere. So if I were to make a movie this would be my inspiration:
He thought he was so in love with his wife but then his heart belonged to another woman. He was killing himself inside every time he though about her or even looked at her. The only reason he was not able to seek further relationship with this woman is because he didnt want to break the heart of his wife and he had three kids with her.
1.I love the zest Melissa added to the story by saying Shakespeare was in love with his best friends wife.
2.I like how Stacey said she would make it based on the nurses point of view.
3.I love how Elizabeth wrote about how her movie would be based on how their love for each other may have been "killed"
If i had to make up my own version of how Shakespeare came up with Romeo and Juliet, i would make it so that he came up with it in a dream. It would have been of him in a pub with his "date". The moment he saw "Juliet", he would have instantly fallen in love with her. As he was about to go up and talk to her though, he realized she was the daughter of the head owner of the rival theatre of the Globe.
He wakes up and still thinks of this. He writes it all down but puts a twist to it. In the play, "Romeo"would realize that the beautiful woman in the pub is not in fact the daughter of his enemy but his own sister! And thats why the love would be forbidden :]
RESPONSES:
1. i disagree with marissa that she would make the play modern. I think it kills the whole vibe of Romeo and Juliet.
2. I really like melissas idea of making the love forbidden because Juliet is his friends wife.
3.I disagree with tiffany about writing a biography. Since it wouldn't be of his personal life it wouldn't feel real.
If I made Romeo and Juliet into a movie, I would make it into a journal-type movie. So at the beginning of the movie, a present-day family finds a journal, Romeo's journal, and they begin to read it and that leads into the Romeo and Juliet tale. So basically the entire movie would be a flashback to Romeo and Juliet's time and their story. At the end of the movie, it comes back to the present-day and the family keeps the journal.
RESPONSES:
I like Tiffany's twist on Romeo and Juliet. I like the way she made the story her own.
I really like how Elizabeth explained how she would make her movie. I like the way that she said that the killing of love between Shakespeare and his wife would interpret the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
I like how Melissa twisted her story in a way so that Shakespeare can write down his emotions by going through an experience of his own.
I think if I had to make a movie about how Shakespeare came to write the tragedy of Romeo & Juliet, I would say that he had inspiration from seeing the relationship between his mother and his father. Maybe he grew up listening to stories about how his father's family, which was well-off, didn't approve of his mother, whose family was lower in class. They had risked everything to be together and it worked out for them. Though he never experienced love firsthand, he would still feel like he knew enough to write a love story.
Then something dramatic happens; he falls in love. His writing comes faster and easier now that he is really experiencing love. He is truly happy, but then something happens and the woman he loves dies. He seriously feels like he can't live without her, but instead of going out and killing himself, he channels his grief into writing and comes up with both Romeo and Juliet killing themselves.

if i had to make a movie of how shakespeare was inspired to write romeo and juliet, i would make the movie and shakespears being friar lawrence because friar knows about everything that is going on because romeo is telling him everything. friars character also seems like the type that would tell about this story of love and passion
i would need talented actors for this but i would also like well known actors so others would be willing to see my movie. i would change the story a little bit to add something new. after all it is only an inspiration
1. i think daisy mad a good comparison about his father and mother. there is a possability that he couldve gotten his inspiration from that.
2. i agree with stacey when she talks about the nurses point of view.
3. i agree with tiff when she says that the actors must be in tune with their emotions.
If i had to make a movie of Romeo and Juliet, i's say he was writing it as a biography of a friend ir family of his. He made this movie in dedication to that person. In the end, the lovers get married and they live happyly ever after with no one bothering them, or telling them that they cant be together. He had made this movie to sort of like congradulate their love.
If I had to make a movie of Romeo and Juliet, I would make Shakespeare's story of why he wrote it very interesting. The story would be: William and Harold were the best of friends for a very long time. One day, something happened that changed William's life forever. Harold met the gorgeous Jacquelyn and fell in love with her. William then became envious of their love, their marriage and their child. He felt that he could never love as Harold did. To prove this, he met the gracious lady Violet. She thrashed his last bits of hope with foul rejection. In his anguish, he wrote the story of Romeo and Juliet, making himself Romeo. He wrote about a love so pure and true that he wanted in reality but felt he could never have. He felt that the only way to experience it would be by writing it.
You'd need some really emotional actors for this. Actors that display the essence of love on screen. :)
Responses:
Gabriel- I agree with your idea. I like the fact that your story would be about William growing up witnessing the hatred between families and making a love story about it.
Alexis- I really like your idea about it being a journal. It makes it more present day and relatable.
Elizabeth- I like your idea for William's story. I like that you'd have William write Romeo and Juliet to show how the love between his wife and him had died, just as Romeo's and Juliet's.
i agree with Stacey that writing it from the point of view of the nurse is more realistic.
I like Daisy's idea of making the movie about how Shakespeare came to write the play because of the relationship he saw in his mother and father.
I also like Victoria's idea of it being writen because of a dream Shakespeare had.
If i had to make a movie of Romeo and Juliet, i would make it as sad and dark as possible. Most of the settings would be in the dark, kind of like an evil emo version. I would also give a dark and sinister twist, in which every family member on the capulet and montegaue side commit suicide due to the death of Romeo and Juliet.
I would probably have to hire actors who have dark and scry thoughts like me. This is in order to make the story real and life like.

I disagree with tiffany because the story will be to boring if it is a biography in my opinion.
I agree with Stacey because she wants to make it as life like as possible.
I agree with elizabeth because i like the idea of basing the story on Romeo and his wife.
